Why Squarespace Reigns Supreme for Web Design (in my opinion)

Finding the right platform for your business can make all the difference in your website's successful launch and sustained growth. Squarespace, known for its sleek interfaces and robust features, stands out as a top contender - and is the only platform we use to build websites.

Here’s a deep dive into why using Squarespace for web design is often the best option for entrepreneurs, small to mid-size businesses, and creatives looking to make a significant impact online.

1. User-Friendly Design Capabilities

Intuitive Interface

Squarespace is renowned for its user-friendly design interface. A highly intuitive drag-and-drop feature allows users to edit and update their beautiful websites regardless of their technical expertise. This accessibility is vital for small businesses and entrepreneurs who may not have the budget to hire a professional designer to update their website.

I’ve worked with many people stuck with a Wordpress site that they couldn’t get into, didn’t know how to edit, or couldn’t get access to, because their designer was MIA. With Squarespace, you can always go into your website and simply add or change pictures, make wording edits, and upload videos.

I think many non-designers trying to build their own websites with Squarespace can get frustrated. While it does have an intuitive design, if you’re not a web designer, copywriter or marketer, your site isn’t going to be professional and most likely, it’s not going to bring you in leads and sales. It’s not going to have the necessary elements you need - because you don’t know what they are.

Getting a Squarespace designer (that’s us!) to build your custom Squarespace website is the first step - after that you are free to update and edit yourself. We make all of our clients a library of little videos showing them how to make updates to their sites, to empower them to have control.

Professional Templates

Squarespace offers a range of professionally designed templates that cater to various industries and aesthetics. Whether you’re a photographer looking to showcase your portfolio or a small business aiming to build an e-commerce platform, there’s a template for you. Each template is also fully responsive, ensuring your site will look great on all devices, a must in today’s mobile-first world.

Personally, as a designer, I don’t use templates. I always like to get to know my clients, their business, and their goals and values BEFORE I create my design.

I always begin with a blank slate - no templates - so that I can customize my sites specifically for my clients and their needs and goals.

2. All-in-One Platform

Domain, Hosting, and Security

One of the most significant advantages of Squarespace is that it’s an all-in-one platform. Your domain registration, web hosting, and security certifications come with your service. Not only does this streamline the process of setting up a website, but it also removes the headache of dealing with multiple service providers.

You don’t have to pay yearly to ‘update’ your SSL certificate - it’s included in your hosting. Your site is ALWAYS secure.

Most of my clients move their domains from domaincheap, Godaddy, etc. to Squarespace - and have everything in one place. It makes it super easy for them to check their billing, download their invoices, and never have to look up passwords or remember where they are hosting their domain.

Built-in SEO Tools

Squarespace provides SEO tools to help your website rank higher in search results.

These tools are designed to optimize your site from the get-go, including proper HTML formatting, automatic tagging, and clean URLs. Additionally, Squarespace’s templates are built to be SEO-friendly, which gives you a headstart in your search engine optimization efforts.

I take it a few steps further, and use SEOSpace, my favorite tool for managing Squarespace SEO and the best SEO tool to be found easily on Google search.

3. Comprehensive Marketing Toolkit

Email Campaigns

Email marketing remains a critical element of digital marketing. Squarespace offers integrated email campaign tools that help you design, send, and track emails that match the style and sophistication of your website. This cohesion ensures your brand messaging is consistent across all platforms.

Note: If you have super complicated funnels and tagging, this might not be the best option, but if you have simple automations and emails - Squarespace email is perfect. It’s great for delivering your leadmagnets, sending weekly emails, and best of all - it matches your site. Your logo is there, your branding is matched, and your emails look like your website. It pulls in your products and blogs, and makes creating a newsletter super simple.

Also - it’s very affordable!

Social Media Integration

In the age of social media, having a website that connects seamlessly with your social media accounts is a game changer. Squarespace makes it easy to link your site to your social media pages and even pull in content directly from these platforms. This integration helps grow your social media presence and ensures your website is constantly refreshed with your latest posts.

My favorite way to integrate social media is bringing in your IG feed on your homepage or in your footer - so people can see what you are doing there and easily follow you.

4. E-commerce Excellence

Streamlined Selling Process

For businesses looking to sell online, Squarespace offers robust e-commerce solutions. From inventory management to secure checkout and advanced shipping options, it provides all the tools to create an efficient online store.

Their e-commerce templates are designed to provide an optimal shopping experience, encouraging visitors to complete purchases. They offer ‘cart abandonment’ emails, allow people to put their email in to get a notification when a product is back in stock, and, best of all - you are doing everything on one platform, not piecing together a bunch of different software for e-commerce.

Flexible Payment Options

Squarespace supports a variety of payment methods, including credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay, among others, making it convenient for customers around the globe to transact on your site.

This flexibility can significantly enhance your global reach and customer satisfaction.

5. Outstanding Customer Support

24/7 Assistance

Unlike many other platforms, Squarespace provides 24/7 customer support. Whether a technical issue or a design query, their team can help you anytime.

This round-the-clock support is particularly beneficial for businesses that operate on non-traditional hours or in various time zones.

I always tout their customer support, because it is a BIG perk of being with Squarespace. If you need help, they are there to help you at no charge.

Extensive Resource Library

Squarespace also offers an extensive library of help guides, video tutorials, and community forums. These resources are invaluable for troubleshooting, learning new features, and getting the most out of your website.

It’s incredible how much support this library provides. You can search for just about anything to do with your website and find the answer in clear and precise language, usually with a video or screenshots to show you how.

6. Scalability

Adapts to Your Growing Business

Squarespace can scale with your business.

It’s suitable for small personal sites and large enterprises needing advanced functionalities. Squarespace’s platform can accommodate increased traffic and more complex website functionalities, such as additional e-commerce features, as your business grows, without compromising performance.

It is set to scale with you.

7. Innovative Features and Updates

Constant Improvements

Squarespace constantly updates its platform with new features, integrations, and design templates. This innovation ensures that your website can always employ the latest technology and trends, keeping you ahead of competitors who might use less updated platforms.

Choosing the right platform for your website is crucial, and Squarespace offers a compelling array of features catering to novice users and seasoned designers. It combines aesthetic flexibility, comprehensive marketing tools, and excellent customer support, all within a user-friendly and scalable environment. Whether you are starting a new business or looking to refresh your existing site, Squarespace is our favorite choice and the only platform we design in.

We’d rather be an expert in one solid platform, not dabble a bit here and there with several.
